Jak św. Jan przybył do Wnętrznego

Więc ludzie zdjęli rzeźbę i woły ruszyły.

The Sign of Saint John in Wnętrzne

Long ago, in the village of Wnętrzne, there stood a roadside tavern known throughout the area. Unfortunately, it had gained a bad reputation. Men gathered there to drink heavily, arguments often turned into fights, and trouble seemed to follow anyone who walked through its doors.

The villagers had grown used to the noise and disorder.

Then something extraordinary happened.

One day, a wagon carrying a statue of Saint John was traveling through Wnętrzne. As it approached a pond near the tavern, the oxen pulling the wagon suddenly stopped.

No matter what the driver did, they refused to take another step.

People gathered around to help. They pushed, shouted, and tried every possible way to move the animals, but nothing worked.

Among the crowd was a local woman on her way to the tavern.

Looking at the statue, she made a suggestion.

„Why don’t we take Saint John off the wagon?”

The people agreed.

As soon as the statue was lifted down, the oxen calmly began walking again.

The event quickly became the talk of the village. Many believed they had witnessed a message from God.

Two weeks later, another strange event occurred.

A countess from Jelec was passing through Wnętrzne in her carriage. As she approached the very same spot near the pond, her oxen stopped without warning.

Just like before, they refused to move.

Confused, the countess questioned her driver, but he could offer no explanation.

Feeling drawn to the place, she stepped out of the carriage.

What happened next would change the village forever.

Standing before her was Saint John.

The vision lasted only a moment, but it left a profound impression on her heart.

When she returned home, she could think of nothing else. Convinced that the appearance carried a divine message, she decided to finance the construction of a chapel at the site.

Soon a small chapel stood near the pond in Wnętrzne.

According to local tradition, the atmosphere of the village changed afterward. The fighting ceased, the constant quarrels faded away, and the tavern gradually lost its influence over the community.

From then on, peace was said to have settled over Wnętrzne, and many villagers believed that Saint John himself had come to guide them toward a better life.
